A second successful meeting of Eritrean Parents in Seattle is conducted

By ertra team

In continuation of the ongoing effort to identify and address the issues that are causing some of our young Eritreans to fail in the area of education and good citizenship in general, a second meeting was conducted by Eritrean parents residing in Seattle. The meeting took place on Sunday, October 22nd and was attended by many Eritrean parents and representatives of the National Union of Eritrean Youth & Students.

The objective of the meeting was to further discuss and consolidate the various initiatives and ideas that were discussed in the first meeting. After a brief discussion, the participants agreed to establish an interim committee to lead the activities. The current volunteer leaders, reinforced with new members, were given a mandate to lead the activities until an official association can be formed. In addition, a taskforce was established with the mandate to disseminate information in order to raise awareness amongst Eritreans regarding the prevailing situation.

The participants reinforced the need to inform more Eritrean parents to join the association and decided to find ways to encourage the participation of more Eritrean mothers in the future.  To that end, the taskforce is expected to identify various means of information dissemination (like radio, public TV, Internet and magazine) to reach most members of our community.

If you want to be informed about the activities and plans of the movement, please send your name, phone # and e-mail address to webmaster@ertra.com and you will be added to the newsgroup established for this purpose.

Let’s join hands and devote our effort for this noble initiative to unite Eritreans in Seattle. We owe that to our kids!!
